Sheldon Lavin Receives The Global Visionary Award While OSI Group Receives Global Of Honor Award

Sheldon Lavin has a career in the food industry which he began more than 43 years ago. Before entering the food industry, he was an investor and executive in the banking industry. Sheldon owned a financial consulting firm.

In the food industry, he became the chairman and CEO of the OSI Group; he transformed the burger supplier into a worldwide supplier of a variety of food products.

The OSI group comprises of OSI Industries, OSI international foods in U.S and OSI International Inc. in charge of the Group’s foreign investments. With almost 2,000 employees, Sheldon Lavin is proud of the group’s employees and the corporate culture in the workplace. As Sheldon Lavin notes, the culture in OSI Group is unique and family oriented. The group experiences a very low turnover as they have put employees to be the most important part of the business.

Lavin’s journey in the meat industry started in 1970 when he arranged to finance for the then Otto & Sons Company. The firm had a chance to build a meat processing unit and become the largest supplier of hamburgers to McDonald’s Corporation in Midwest. They could not build the facility by themselves; they needed financing through the help of Lavin. The bank invited Lavin to have an ownership position at Otto. He declined the offer at first since he did not practice such dealings in his consulting practice. Sheldon Lavin later agreed to act as a Consultant and set the caveat with Otto and Sons. He did not enter the business relationship as partners, but his investment had the same degree of leverage.

During his time in OSI group, Sheldon Lavin was presented with a Global Visionary Award on February 20, 2016. The award which he received from India’s vision world academy was as a result of his incredible accomplishments in OSI group. The company has received health management, safety risks, environmental and sustainability awards during Lavin’s leadership.

Among them are the 2016 Globe of Honor Award by British safety council. The award was received due to the environmental risk strategies of the company. The award was present on November 25, 2016, in London. Lavin hopes that the next generation of corporate leaders will continue to prioritize on environmental sustainability.
